Managing My Diabetes

If you have diabetes, you are not alone. Millions of people today have diabetes. Diabetes cannot yet be cured. But it can be managed. You can lead a full, active life with diabetes. But first you need to learn how to manage your diabetes.

When you have diabetes, there are two parts to learning how to take care of yourself. The first part of diabetes self-management is to get information about diabetes so you can make good choices. The second part is to develop the skills to put that information to use in your daily life.

This section focuses on the second part:
developing the skills to manage diabetes in your daily life. In this section, you’ll learn how to make taking medicine, checking your blood sugar levels, eating for good health, and being active part of your diabetes care plan. You can also learn how to reduce your risks for diabetes-related health problems, develop skills for solving problems you encounter, cope with the challenges of living with diabetes, and work effectively with your diabetes care team.
