Voices of Diabetes

I was diagnosed with diabetes 38 years ago at the age of 14. My father was type 1 diabetic and was a true inspiration to me. By following his lead, I have never had any of the really serious complications. I have experienced a lot of ups and downs, but thanks to the support of my husband and my family members, I have always gotten through them.

At first, my husband was not experienced in dealing with this disease. He has gone out of his way to learn about the signs and symptoms of every aspect of the disease. He is truly magnificent at recognizing lows, and is kind and caring when handling them. I am very lucky to have him in my life.
