I have been there, burned out. The shots, pills,
vitamins, exercise. Sure, it's tough sometimes. But then you just let your
doctor know that you are having this problem. Often, they lend a sympathetic
ear and make some wonderful suggestions, like a vacation away from your
environment.
Imagine taking a few days for yourself and just relaxing
and let someone else do the cooking. There are many "camps" for
adults who are diabetic and need a renewed vigor. Often, they expose you to
different things to learn to enjoy.
Who would have ever thought walking an entire museum in a
day would be healthful? Or learning a new sport, like snorkeling or even a few
rounds of bowling.
Trying something different often gives us a chance to
recharge, as does taking cooking classes and getting in with others who are in
the same boat.
I think for me that one thing that does keep me going and
avoiding burnout is variety. New foods, new fun to keep things jumping gives me
the incentive to talk with my doctor and let her know my plans. Often, she
would streamline my meds and make it simpler so I can accomplish what I want.
So, check out your local community centers, museums, and
any place you can think of that has something you may want to try. Who knows? I
may see you at the deep end of the lake one day, snorkeling by.
