Voices of Diabetes

Hi, I'm 19 years old and in my first year of college. I've been a diabetic for 6 years. Here is my story.

After being sick for some time, I was first diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 14. The first years were a pain. I had to track all I ate and had to give up some of my favorite foods.

After the first year though, things went okay.

Because of the insurance I have, I got a new doctor who evaluates my medications every 6 months or so. Now, I'm trying to get the doctor I have to put me on an (insulin) pump. My A1C is high, and my kidneys are starting to go. I have to get the foot-toe thing done.

Later this year, I'll be moving out to be on my own.
