Voices of Diabetes

Hi to all. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in September ‘08. There is no diabetes history in my family so I thought diabetes was one thing I would never have to worry about. Wrong!

I have been on pills before breakfast and dinner, which helped initially. My readings started getting much higher and I finally got approval to see an endocrinologist. He has added a once-a-day dose of insulin to the pills to help bring down my readings. It's only been 12 days and already I've been switched from taking my insulin at bedtime to mornings. Now I'm having low blood sugar mid-afternoon instead of mornings upon awakening. My other daily readings are still out of the preferred range. I just can't win. Today I'll try to counteract the very low mid-afternoon readings with a higher carb lunch.

Wish me luck.
