Voices of Diabetes

I have been a type 1 diabetic for over 44 years.  When I was first diagnosed, I had to boil syringes and needles and test urine in a test tube.  Over the years, many advances have been made to make life easier.

The one consistent aspect of this disease is the "horror stories" about diabetes. Based on these stories, I should be blind and limbless and on kidney dialysis by now.

In spite of the stories, I have done fine by taking care of my diabetes and look forward to the future -- and of course, more horror stories.
