Voices of Diabetes

Hi, my name is Sue and I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes on July 16, 2008. I woke up at 3:00 in the morning not feeling well and had some chest discomfort. I went to the ER and found out that I had diabetes. My blood sugar was 386 mg/dL. I was admitted and spent 3 days in the hospital with the doctor getting my blood sugar down to a safe level. I don't have any family support except for my husband, my sister-in-law and my daughter. My sister-in-law has type 2 diabetes like I do and my daughter, who is 24 years old, has hypoglycemia. I have turned to religion to help my inner self along the way as I learn to cope with having type 2 diabetes. Right now I am on oral medication and still trying to keep my blood sugar down. Well, that’s about all for me right now.
