Voices Of Diabetes

Voices of Diabetes

I became a diabetic in 1982 and was on no medication for a few years, relying on watching myself very carefully.

Then, I started on oral medication for a few years. Then, I started on insulin injections, which was very hard because I was a salesman traveling all day long. I learned to carry my medications with me.

Coping with diabetes for my wife and me was very hard. We love to take trips, and it was now an extra burden on both of us making sure we had all my meds with us. After many years on insulin injections (I was up to seven a day), I spoke to my doctor about switching to an insulin pump which I have been on since October of last year. I am so happy now, with no worries about insulin injections. I now am coping much better with my diabetes.
