Voices of Diabetes

I'm 44 years old and I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2006. I knew it was coming, because I had gestational diabetes. I think I'm struggling with accepting it though. I have a big anxiety, believe it or not, about checking my blood sugar…because of my fear of needles. I know this sounds stupid, but that is one of my biggest problems. Is there anyone out there who had the same problem as me and can tell me how they overcame it? I literally have a major panic attack and usually end up wasting 3 strips before getting a successful reading. I've had this fear of needles since I was a very young girl. Can someone please help?
