Voices of Diabetes

I am a 77-year-old male and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last year at the age of 76 years. I am having a difficult time finding information on the real causes and just how common it is for people my age to have type 1 diabetes. There is no history of diabetes in any of my family as far back as I can find.

I spent a year in Vietnam from 1975 to 1976. In the Korean conflict, I handled casualties coming out of the battlefield. There was Agent Orange in both conflicts. I am wondering if there are any other known cases similar to mine.
