I read with interest your recent post. I, too, have been recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I have several friends and family members with the disease. It can be managed with almost no effect on one's personal life other than forcing a person to live a healthier lifestyle. In that regard, I view this diagnosis as having a very large upside. I am now exercising more and eating better. I wish you well with managing your condition. You just may be entering a very fulfilling era in your life.
