Voices of Diabetes

My daughter, 17 years old now, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 6 years. I spent many years closely managing her blood sugar (glucose) with frequent blood glucose tests daily, close diet control, and persistence with regular physical activity. My reward was good A1C levels for years, but now I see that she needs her independence. I can't see how she can have that and still maintain good control without my help. She is not a happy teenager, and I need her to be one.

Should I sacrifice good control for a while so she can be independent and confident? Please give me advice.
