Voices of Diabetes

This story is for Peggy, who wrote about diabetes frustration and burnout. I know exactly how you feel!

I lost 30 pounds and looked terrible. It took me almost 2 years to get my body back. Don't give up! I feel better than before I got diagnosed. Think of your body as an engine in a car. It can't run too high or too low in order to operate properly. This is what I think about every time I check my blood sugar (glucose).

I will not let this disease ruin my life – not when it has attacked so many people. We can beat this. Prove to yourself that you can have and want your life back! Find a meal plan that agrees with your body. Everyone is different, so pay attention to what works for you.

Although doctors think they are helping by giving you pamphlets for this disease, they cannot know your body like you do. Never give up!! Go to your local library and read about others who have overcome this disease.

Good luck, and remember, I am cheering for you!
