Voices of Diabetes

I am only 24 and have had diabetes for almost 15 years. It was hard growing up and watching people not have to deal with what I was going through. I would go in spurts not dealing with my illness. It went on for about 10 years of not being in control.

 

Recently, I lost some of my vision. I have diabetes retinopathy. It was caused by my high blood sugar. I have some other complications that someone my age should not have.

 

I just want to say that now I have realized that I need to overcome this disease so that I can one day have that family that I dreamed about. But I can’t do that without first taking control.
