Voices of Diabetes

Hi. My name is Donna and I live in PA. I have had diabetes since 1958.

I have seen many new and improved things happen with this disease. I remember having a glass syringe and metal needle, which was kept in alcohol, boiled to be sterile, and sharpened on a sharpening stone. Then came the disposable needles that you attached to the glass syringe. Then came the disposable syringe and needle combination. Insulin delivery alone has gone through big and improved changes.

I am lucky to have been raised eating healthy and learning to care for my disease. I have had a pump for approximately 15 years. My eyes are fine and no neuropathy.  I just had a heart attack and still feel very lucky!  We all have something to share with each other and are lucky to be alive.
