Voices of Diabetes

I work 12-hour night shifts in a busy ICU (Intensive Care Unit) 3 nights a week and live in the real world the other four. It's been a real challenge to maintain a normal eating schedule, but I have found the best for me is "grazing" — eating one to two carb servings every 3 hours while I'm awake, and taking my meds on a 12-hour schedule (5 PM and 5 AM). So far, so good. My last A1C was 6.2%. If I go out to eat, I divide my meals into 3 and know that, in 3 hours or so, I get to enjoy it again. Or, I just order a healthy appetizer.
