Voices Of Diabetes

Voices of Diabetes

I have been an RN (Registered Nurse) for 25 years and have seen the changes in diabetes care first hand. My father was a diabetic who managed his disease with oral medications. With 3 nurses in the family, you would think it was going to be easy. It was a daily trial.

I truly believe everyone who has diabetes as well as their family members should attend a nutrition class. The general public believes candy, cookies, and cakes are the "big bad foods." Many clients don't understand how potatoes, cream, gravy, fried foods, breaded foods, tortillas, and pintos affect their blood sugar (glucose).

I have taught many diabetics how to manage their sugar and still enjoy (occasionally) their favorite foods. Tight control of your blood sugar will help allow all diabetics to live a healthier, happier life.

I admire all of you!!!
