Voices of Diabetes

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 6 years old. I'm now 52 and last week finally broke down and started on an insulin pump.

It was 15 years ago when doctors wanted me to go on the pump, but I refused. So, I was taking multiple injections for years with blood sugar (glucose) levels all over the charts.

Someone wants to meet for lunch, and I'm ready because I don't have to take a shot to do it! I test my blood sugars more often now, and it doesn't seem as tedious as it used to. I've also taken more interest in my diabetes then I ever have before, and that's always a great thing.

The pump is the answer for me! I just love the freedom it gives me.
