Voices of Diabetes

Hello, I am a 41-year-old woman with adult onset diabetes. I was just diagnosed with it this year. I knew that I would inherit it because my mom already has it. She was first diagnosed in 1991. I also have benign hypertension as well. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure when I turned 31. So life has thrown me a lot of curve balls. I try to stay stress free and calm most of the time. I am beginning to watch my food intake these days. I haven't begun my exercise regimen yet but I plan to soon. Right now it is too humid and hot to walk. I stay in Houston, TX, and the summer isn't the best time to be outside.

So faced with all of this I try to deal with it in a safe way and take care of myself as well. I know these are two conditions I may have the rest of my life so I will just pray and place it in GOD'S hands and continue living a smoke-free, alcohol-free life. Thanks for listening and I wish all the diabetes patients the best of luck and keep GOD in your heart and PLEASE TAKE YOUR MEDICATIONS!
